VIRTUAL VISIT OF THE GREENHOUSE
The physical installation has concluded.
Dear visitor,
Thank you for your interest in the Greenhouse momentary project. While the installation no longer exists, we welcome you
to take a virtual tour of the installation and see the collective vows made by the many visitors on this website, in Febuary and
March 2010. View the collaborations between people around the world who have commited promises, and the people in Singapore
who have planted them into the ground for you. Re-visit your promise, and re-live this ephemeral moment. As you tour the
structure, we welcome you to add your promises to the database.

THE GREENHOUSE
This is the Greenhouse, where ideas grow to fruitation. Where promises are nurtured to be harvested
in one years time perhaps? Where will you be a year from now? Would you have kept your promise?
THE FLOWER CLOUD
Symbols and signs are important indicators in life. They are our compasses of visual navigation.
A unique language that speaks to the heart through the eyes. The Flower Cloud is neither a flower
or a cloud, but a cloud that becomes a flower as a promise is commited to the earth.
THREAD SOFTLY AS YOU JOURNEY IN
What are is your mind telling you as you softly thread the paper below your feet now? As you
enter a poem sounds: "At the enterance, my bare feet on the dirt floor, Here, gusts of hear: at
my back, white clouds. I stare and stare, it seems I was called for this..."
A VIEW FROM THE REAR
Windows, materials, fabrics all cast a different persepctive onto another world we are not
part of. As we peek into windows and holes, we get a glimspe of what we are missing. Many
times however, we do not get the full picture.
WINDOWS LOOKING IN
How do you see the world from outside? What is your perspective
of the otherside? Life is about perspectives and as we grow, our
perspectives begin to change.
WATERING CAN
A watering can to water your aspirations. An essential for a greenhouse.
SEEDLINGS AND DEEP SEEDS
A seed is just a seed until it is given intentional care and concern.
Only then it can grow to become a plant, only then an idea can grow
into a reality.
WATER FOR SALE
A dream only grows if you water it daily with determination. Here we have some juice for you which might
be what you just need for that spark to start.
CLOUDS THAT INSPIRE
Rain of inspiration and rain of promises. Choose a promise cloud that
inspires you and plant it into the flowerbed.
GIANT SEED POD
The installation has a giant seed pod looking lamp that sits in a bed of
white paper grass.
MEMORIES
Memories and past experiences are the bedrock of our future promises and aspirations. I remember just lying
on the clouds wondering where they drifted off to. I never imagined that one day I would follow one of those
clouds and find myself here.
FINAL YEAR PROJECT - A FINAL PROMISE
One of the beautiful promises that hung in the installation was about doing one's absolute best.
This is indeed the final project of my undergraduate life and it is wonderful to see people making
such meaningful promises.
THE GREENHOUSE PROJECT
This designed experience is the Final Year Project deliverable by Changzhi Lee
for hisBachelors of Fine Arts (Honors) program at Nanyang Technological University,
Singapore.
Focused as an ephemeral, momentary installation that involves the use of environmental
and experiential design, the installation concept builds on the theme of how experiences are
an extention of ourselves., and experiences produce moments of inspiration.
You are invited into a 'greenhouse' like structure, where you can pluck promises contributed by
people on this website, and plant them into the ground.
The concept was inspired from the eco-system of plants. Like all living things, inspirations and
aspirations have a life cycle too. We need to incubate them in a warm environment.
I believe the collective promise is always more powerful than one person. The best creative
manifestosare the design contributions by a group of people. This is an opportunity for
a global manifesto to be made from voices across the world.
The installation was displayed twice, once at Queen's Road and a second time at Nanyang
Technological University during the month of March 2010. As an ode to the environment,
80 percent of the installation was constructed out of 5000 sheets of used A4 office paper.

MAKE A PROMISE TO YOURSELF:
THE WATERING CAN
The greatest creative ideas need a good dose of sky juice to keep
em fresh and growing well. Come get some refreshing inspiration from
our watering can at the greenhouse.
MAKE YOUR VOW
Before visitors leave the greenhouse, they are invited to make
a vow and hang it up in the clouds. Someone who comes through
the tour after them will help them plant their dreams into the
ground.
Take a look at the seedling kit. Grow your inspirations to fruitation. The best ideas grow in the greenhouse.
In the seedling kit, you will find a glass pot, a satchet of seeds and a bottle of greenhouse water
Your seedling kit comes in white box.
Open the box by lifting the tab to reveal contents.
Packets of satchets within the kit containing inspiration seeds.
Open a satchet, add some juice and watch your inspiration grow.
When your inspiration is mature, plant it in larger planter box. Put on table to watch daily and be inspired.
Continue to water your inspirations daily for best results.
